The good the bad and the details. We are moving to St Thomas in the US Virgin Islands. We will try to keep a rambling record for anyone that ever dreamed of giving it all up and moving to the Islands to learn from or just laugh at.

We had dinner at Shipwreck Tavern tonight and it was pretty darn good. They are known for their burgers and they definitely lived up to their reputation. They have a big party with a DJ on Saturday nights but it doesn't start until 11:30! Little too late for Jay and I. :-). We heard their advertisement on the radio and we cracked up. They were definitely going for the college crowd. They talked about their 15 foot beer bong from the DJ booth, beer pong and hot chicks. They call it Frat Night on Saturday nights. Too funny! But as far as food and atmosphere, it was pretty good. They have lots of tv's with different sports events, A/C, good service and good drinks. So make sure and check it out.
Jay and I ate at this new restaurant on St. John with our forum friends Rick and Christine. Wow! The food was fabulous! We shared four small plates (appetizers), one main dish and two desserts. All were fantastic. For starters, we had the Garlic Tiger Prawns, Seared Diver Scallops, Yellow Fin Tuna and Focaccia. All had wonderful presentation and melted in your mouth. For the main dish we shared the one pound ribeye. It's cooked on a super hot flat grill so it's seared on both sides and oh so juicy in the middle. They sliced it like a NY strip for us since we were sharing it. Then for the big finish, we had the Key Lime Creme Brulee and the Brownie Waffle with vanilla ice cream. Yum!! If you're on St. John you definitely need to give this establishment a try, you will not be disappointed. The owners were very personable and came out and talked to us about their new place and you could just feel their excitement. We wish them well in their new endeavor.
Update: the food was very good and the Fidler was over the top. Much more "into" it than when he was at tickles. Since he plays here three nights a week during high season, this is his home crowd and the regulars know all his songs. It was pretty entertaining!! If it wasn't for the road, we'd come move often, but it's pretty rough.

Hook, Line & Sinker is trying a new Sunday night dinner menu. Belinda came up with the idea to cook a traditional southern cookin' meal. For $15 you get to pick one main item, three sides and a biscuit or corn muffin. Jay got the fried chicken, sweet potato crunch, dirty mashed potatoes, peas with snaps and a biscuit. I got the roast beef with potatoes and carrots, sweet potato crunch, deviled eggs, and a biscuit with sweet tea. Yummy!!!
Well out doing some chores today .... Cost-u-Less, Home Depot, etc. And thought we would try this cafe that is right next to Cost-u-Less. I've been told by serveral people its a cool little place to grab a quick bite to eat and soak up some a/c while using their free wifi.
We stopped at the Grillroom at Mahogany Run Golf Course the other night after looking at a condo. Wow! Great meal. You don't have to be a golfer to enjoy this place! Our tab for meals, one drink each, one dessert and tip was $64, which is about average for the nicer restaurants.

Stopped at Iggies Beach Bar & Grill for lunch while we were out looking at condos. I love it. We will definitely be back. Jay had a great burger and I had an excellent pulled pork made with their homemade sauce (made with Cruzan rum!) Yum!
Well Bill and Carol are flying out today so we all had lunch at the East End Cafe in Red Hook. Italian food and air conditioned to boot.
Jay
Since its a rainy day we decided to do a little shopping. Of course since we're downtown we have to stop at the Greenhouse for some lunch and a cocktail.
I can confirm that despite recent problems with certain government agencies they are open.

Jay got the day off so we hoped on the ferry and came over to St. John for the day. Thought we would stop at Woodys for lunch, then maybe Hawksnest beach and then to the Beach Bar for a forum gathering. This is the second day this week we had off together....I could get used to
this.
Jay got the shark bites which is what he always gets when we are at Woodys and I got the grilled mahi sandwhich, both were excelent.

We had dinner at Havana Blue at the Marriott Morningstar. Its Shaunda's last night and we wanted to do something nice. The food was good, the service was good and the atmosphere was very good. The prices were a little high but all in all it was worth doing. Jay had the Red Snapper, I had coconut tempura shrimp with a Pomegranate Mojito and Shaunda had Havana Pollo.
We are having dinner at The Mafolie Hotel. This has always been one of our favorite spots on the island, killer view, great food and good service.

We went to Oceana in Frenchtown tonight for Shaunda's birthday. It was awesome! Great view, great service, great food, definitely a must do if you're in St. Thomas. They even brought out a desert with a candle and sang happy birthday, but quietly so not to bother anyone elses
dinner. You say its your birthday.....
There was a post a few weeks ago on one of the forums about mandatory tips. I have to say that Mim's tonight was proof this is a bad idea. The food was great, the setting was great, the bartender and hostess were wonderful, the waitress was a bitch. And she was gauranteed a 15 percent tip. To Insure Poor Service. This is what mandatory tips do. Keep in mind we rarely tip less than 20 percent and I was looking for a way to delete the 15 on this check.

Trying a new place to eat. So far it looks awesome. We'll let you know how the food is....,but I'm lovin the view!!!!
