Bananas.....yea!!!

Yea!!! Finally got some bananas from the tree that's on the property! Sooooo good! We thought we weren't going to have any because they were gone Wednesday after the Gardner was here so we thought he took them. I emailed our landlord to tell her the news and she immediately
sent the Gardner an email and asked if he would please bring them back. It was a really nice email about how we were really looking forward to having fresh bananas right off the tree in our front yard. Come to find out that they had cut the bananas down because they were ripe and left them by the front door of the apartment downstairs! The tennant thought we had left him the bananas so he didn't say anything to us about them. When I told him the situation he immediately took a big bunch and left them by our front door! Yea!! We had some for breakfast this morning...soooo good, sweet, yum. For lunch I'm thinking BBC (bailys banana colada). Let's see, hmmm......what else can we make? Banana bread, Banana pancakes, Banana daiquiri, BBC .......

Here are some banana facts! :-)

Taken from the Beach Bar web site:

BBC
Similar in Texture and Richness to a Bushwacker. This Lesser Known, Easier Prepared, Concoction Can't be Beat When the Banana is Really Ripe. Just Like in Baking, an Overripe Banana is Going to Be Delicious Here!
For 1 Drink:
1.5 oz Bailey's
1 oz Light Rum
1.5 oz Coco Lopez
1/2 of a Fresh Very Ripe Banana
Put all ingredients in a blender. Blend till Smooth. We garnish with a cherry, but you may think of something more creative...If you do drop us an e-mail and tell us about it!mailto:it!thebeachbar@thebeachbar.net

Ok, so I couldn't wait for lunch......had to have a BBC right now, so here you go!! (BTW I used Cruzan rum cream instead of Bailey's, yum!)

Cruzan Confusion

Cruzan Confusion, originally uploaded by captainjay.

Well its past noon so time for a cocktail by the pool. :-) I found recipe online for a Cruzan Confusion that is pretty tasty. Equal parts of Cruzan Mango, Cruzan Coconut and pineapple juice and I added a little OJ. I asked a couple bartenders on island about it and they
said it was basically a little bit of all Cruzan flavors and fruit punch. But I didn't find that online anywhere. Anyone know which one is right? Regardless, the version I made is very good! Yum, yum!

Island Frappuccino

Well we came up with a variation of a frappuccino and a bushwacker. We never finish a pot of coffee so I thought I would use the leftover to make a drink. It turned out pretty good....a bushwacker with a caffeine buzz!

3 parts coffee
2 parts Baileys
1 part Cruzan Rum
1 part vodka
1 part coconut cream
1 pack of Splenda

Mix with ice in blender!

Refreshing Cocktail

Refreshing Cocktail, originally uploaded by captainjay.

Thought I would share my new drink that is very refreshing for the summer. I'm normally a Captain and Diet with lime girl, bit since coming here I've noticed that a lot of places have Pepsi products intead of Coke which does not taste good with Captain. So I had to find something else. Jim at Hook Line Sinker helped me come up with Stoli Raz, splash of cranberry, soda and lots of lime. Its very good and very refreshing on a hot day. It probably has a name but I haven't
found one yet. Have a great weekend!
Deb

BTW - Jay was off today so I took off early so we could hang out since he has to work all weekend.

ALSO, I guess I should have mentioned that Jim doesn't work at Hook Line anymore. Like CaptRD said in his comment, Jim and Ellen left a couple months ago to go state side and they are definitly missed..........Jim if you're reading this, let us know how you guys are doing!!!!!

Bushwacker time!

Bushwacker time!, originally uploaded by captainjay.

I went to Cost-U-Less today and bought the ingredients for Bushwackers. The cashier was like "party".... Jay got off work a little early so we sat by the pool, had a few Bushwackers and threw a couple of filets on the grill. We're planning on going back to Tortola on Wednesday (Jays birthday) to look at the boats again. So hopefully a boat is in our future.

Deb

Bushwacker recipe: equal parts of Bailys (or Carolans, a cheaper version of Bailys), Kahlua, Vodka, Rum (Cruzan of course), Amaretto, Cream of coconut. Blend with ice, top with fresh nutmeg. Yummy!

Pain Killer Home Kit

Since Jay mentioned painkillers, I thought I would add the recipe.
1 part cream of coconut, 2 part dark rum, 4 part pineapple juice, 1 part orange juice. I use a gallon jug, 48 oz can of pineapple juice, 12 oz of orange juice, 750 ML of Dark Cruzan Rum (it's about 25 oz - so close enough), 12 oz of Coco Lopez (the can is usually 15 oz, so I just use most of the can). Before adding the Coco Lopez, sit the can in a bowl of hot water, let it sit until it sounds liquefied when shaken. This keeps the little white specks of coconut from forming. Don't forget to garnish with fresh grated nutmeg. Enjoy!
Deb
