Friday Beach Picture

Sunset at Trunk Bay from the VIOL Photo Album
So Deb and I are back and trying to settle back into our normal routine. We need to go to the store and restock the fridge. We also need to take care of the huge pile of mail that stacked up while we were gone as well. So nothing real exciting to post right now.

Hi guys - Stumbled across your blog the other day while researching USVI. I've enjoyed reading it and the fabulous pictures you've posted! My husband and I were there for one day while on a cruise and I've always wanted to go back.

We are Canadians and looking to make a move somewhere warmer, where we can experience something different with our daughter. I'm almost finished teacher's college so now I'm scouting around to see what's out there. I'm hoping you can answer a question for me - what is the cost of living there like? For example, are apartment or small home rentals (monthly - long term) expensive?

Thanks and keep writing! I'm anxious to read more!

Hi Beth. The cost of living is pretty high. Comparable to most larger cities in the US but the wages aren't. We pay $1200 for a large one bedroom apt that has an awesome view. Food costs and gas are also high. So you definitely have to keep that in mind. There is a need for teachers here but the pay is low so your husband would need to get a job too. Lol But other than that we love it and have no regrets. Good luck. :-)

Thanks so much for the information. I'm going to do some more research before making any decisions so I'll add yours to the pile! St. Thomas is still pretty high on the list though! Hopefully when we're ready the high school will have some openings!

take care and thanks again!!
