Finally filled out our 2010 USVI Census form. I heard it was crazy,
but that doesn't even begin to describe it. The form for mainland US
was only 10 questions. Ours had over a hundred for two people! They
are trying to track too much information, income, education, work
history, public assistance, family origins, disabilities, mental
capacity, transportation, it's all over the place. And since there
isn't a real address system here, they don't want the forms mailed,
they have census workers coming to every house to pick up the forms so
that they can fill out the back of the form on the location of the
property. So I'm subposed to just hand over all this information to
some random person that comes to my house asking for it. I'm not
comfortable with that at all! But what choice do I have? None.
The good the bad and the details. We are moving to St Thomas in the US Virgin Islands. We will try to keep a rambling record for anyone that ever dreamed of giving it all up and moving to the Islands to learn from or just laugh at.

Census craziness

I had the same questions and declined to answer at least half.
I told them one person lived here -- true and then I made up all the rest - or just declined - the census counts people - I got that part right.
