We had a great time in the adult carnival parade today! It took us only 3 1/2 hours to finish, we thought it would be much longer. Since we were a new troupe and pretty small, we were near the beginning. But there was still a really good turnout on the parade route and we really got the crowd dancing. I can't say thanks enough to our troupe leader for all the hard work she put in to pull everything together. So much fun! Once I get all the pics and video that everyone took, I'll put a little video together. Happy carnival!! :-)

Friday Beach Pic
TGIF!! It's Friday, it's the start of Carnival, big projects at work are coming together, the Zumba troupe is coming along nicely and we're going over to St. John to visit some friends on vacation. Oh and i fit into a pair of jeans that haven't fit since last summer lol. Gonna be a good weekend!
The pic is from Savannah Bay Virgin Gorda taken by some friends that were there a couple weeks ago. Looks pretty nice, we'll have to make sure and stop there the next time we're out that way.

Topsy Turvy
Day three of the Topsy Turvy experiment. I've heard good things and bad things about Topsy Turvy so I decided to try it for myself. My coworker put hers out and it was dead within two days. I think it just burnt up from too much sun and fertilizer. So we were super careful and kept ours inside the first two days and just put it outside this morning. It's growing and turning towards the light so that's a good sign.
We also kept it inside because we have had crazy winds for several days and it looks like its calming down today. So hopefully it doesn't get blown away :-)
I'll keep you posted on how it goes. I really want some home grown tomatoes so I hope it works. I have no idea what variety of tomato the plant is. We bought it at Home Depot and the pot just said Tomato lol. So who knows what we'll end up with. The selection at Home Depot was pretty sad as are the tomatoes that I've found on island. So again, i hope this works.
We used Miracle Grow Moisture Control potting mix and Miracle Grow Enriched peat moss. We read a bunch that keeping the tomatoes watered is the biggest reason for failure so we wanted to make sure it held as much moisture as possible. It's going to get a bunch of sun on our deck, I hope not too much.

Local artists
Come to Looney Bien this Saturday 11am to check out the works of a few local artists. Jewelry, arts and crafts will be on display while being entertained by local musicians. Sounds like a fun afternoon to get you started for carnival week!

Care package
Care packages are so much fun. We've received a few lately from friends that stayed with us and our landlord. :-). It's always fun getting an email from our mail center that we have a package when I know we hadn't ordered anything. Then you open the box and find stuff like specially coffee, Tervis tumblers, beach towels, koozie's, shells & cheese, all kinds of fun stuff. It definitely puts a smile on your face. Thanks guys :-)

Happy Good Friday
Good Friday indeed! It's a beautiful day, holiday weekend, catching up on some rest and house cleaning. This weekend starts the camping holiday in the VI. Lots of families camping out on the beaches. There has been someone camping on Hans Lollick the last few days. We can see their camp fire at night. Today is also the day of no alcohol sales until 4pm. Of course this law was repealed several years ago but they choose to ignore that fact and still enforce the law. Funny how they enforce non-existence law while letting other laws go unpunished. Go figure.
Anyway. Hope everyone has a nice Easter Weekend! :-)

BVI Spring Regatta
Fun fun time at the after party for the BVI Spring Regatta. Had a great day of sailing. We were first across the line in our class with a 5 minute lead. It brought us up to third overall! So happy for the owners Dick and Pam of Caribbean Soul. We got to go up on the podium to receive the third place trophy. So exciting!!
Now it's time to head back. Going to catch a ride with a friend on their sailboat, much better ride than the ferry :-)

BVI Spring Regatta
Had an awesome day of sailing. We are in Tortola with some friends who own a charter boat in Moorings called Caribbean Soul. For the BVI Spring Regatta they have a class for charter boats, unlike the Rolex.
They started the series a little rough but after several good finishes yesterday and a first in class today the team finished third overall so we'll get to visit the podium tonight during the award ceremony.
What a day to remember. The crew made some good tactical decisions that guaranteed our first place finish. I'm so excited for the boat owners and looking forward to the party tonight. Good thing Jay and I have tomorrow off :-)

I was volunteered to do the poster that we plan to hang on the truck for our sponsors. I am not artistic at all! So this was pretty difficult for me. This is what I came up with. Everyone seems pleased so I guess I did ok. For the background I took a picture of my pink Zumba pants and changed the hue. I think it turned out pretty cool :-)
I've heard all kinds of tales about how long it takes to walk the parade route. Anywhere from 5 hours to 8 hours. Whew! I hope we can make it lol Make sure to come out to the parade and Zumba with us!!
