Such a pretty day today in STT. Went for my morning walk from Frenchtown thru Yacht Haven Grande to Paradise Gate and back. It's a little over 4 miles round trip and took me about an hour and 10 min. It used to take an hour and a half so I'm making a little better time.
Tomorrow we're doing a BVI trip with my coworkers to the Baths, Virgin Gorda. I hope this beautiful weather continues. :-)
The good the bad and the details. We are moving to St Thomas in the US Virgin Islands. We will try to keep a rambling record for anyone that ever dreamed of giving it all up and moving to the Islands to learn from or just laugh at.

A lot of Jenny Food
I picked up my Jenny Craig order last night, and I think there was a miscommunication with my consultant. I told her that I liked the frozen food better than the shelf food and since I'm now down to 5 days a week on Jenny, she should cut the shelf food when dropping the two days a week out of my order. So, she cut all the shelf food and only sent frozen! The order came in two boxes instead of one (still only one shipping charge) because all the frozen food couldn't fit in one cooler. I barley got the food to fit in our freezer.
Btw- I've lost 30 lbs so far. The first 10 weeks I lost 20 lbs, the second 10 weeks I lost 10 lbs. I was a little more strict in the beginning with the program and not eating out. I guess I need to get back to that if I'm going to loose the next 10 lbs before our WV trip in Sept :-)

Large Day
Soggy Dollar Bar's big 40 was all large. The turnout was huge and the weather men, thank god were wrong. It was a little bumpy this morning on the way over, we had a few sprinkles, then it turned plain old beautiful this afternoon.

Now that's more like it
Clear sky and blue water, that's more like it! It's temporary but it was so pretty on my way to work I just had to share it. I've already been told that it's dark to the east and the forecast is more rain and thunder storms this afternoon. But at the moment it's beautiful out :-)
More rain to come
Well, it finally stopped raining but it looks like more is on the way. Flash flood warnings have been in effect for two days and continued thru tonight. I feel bad for all the people that have been here on vacation and have had to deal with all this rain and haze. You just never know what the weather will be this time of year.

Rain rain go away
This rain really needs to stop! Roads are flooded, brown water in the harbor and the heater on in my car! Lol

Tap room
Finally made it to the infamous Tap Room on St. John. They had four of their own beers on tap as well as several others. Jay was in draught heaven! Loved all the colors in this pic so I had to post it.
We're enjoying our day on St. John with some of our Forum friends. :-)
Spyglass the former Balcony
This is Nic, from Utah he is new to the island. He is one of the bartenders at Spyglass were the Balcony used to be. Most of you know what I think about the Beach Bar. We came up here because he actually wanted to wait on people. It has been a nice afternoon, despite the rain. We will come back.

Tragedy at Coki Point
But yesterday, the worst possible scenario was played out. A 14 year old tourist visiting on a Carnival cruise ship was killed from crossfire between two criminals. Mid day, at a popular tourist site, in a “safari” taxi cab. The target of the shooting was also killed and the shooter is on the run. This is such a sad story and I feel for the family. So I hope that the outrage will bring the problems to the surface. It’s going to take everyone getting involved and giving a dam to make a difference. From the community keeping a watchful eye and reporting incidents, not hiding criminals and working with the police and not against them. To the parents being more involved in their children’s lives. It’s going to take the police force to step it up and be proactive, investigate crimes completely and timely so that there is no chance that the case will be thrown out on a technicality or lack of evidence. It’s going to take the judges handing out sentences to their max and stop giving out probation and home confinement. It’s going to take politicians to put stricter gun laws and tougher sentences in place and see to it that they are being followed.
It just makes me so sad that the place I love has come to this. On top of everything else, Carnival Cruise line has issued a statement indicating that they are suspending all trips to Coki Beach and Coral World until further notice. This is a prime tourist location so all the businesses will now suffer because of this. But I don't blame them at all. This was a terible tragedy, and emotions are high, and who knows what these idiots are cabable of. I just hope this brings the community closer together and some positive changes come out of it.
There are several articles written about this incident, here are just a few.

Quiet Sunday
We finally got out on the boat today. It's still hazy but the sun is trying to break thru. We headed over to Honeymoon beach on Water Island. It's pretty quiet today. Eric Stone is done playing at Joes for the season so not much going on. But still happy to be here on the boat :-)

Movies in de islands
Went to the movie theater on STT for the first time. Everyone told me it would be cold and they weren't lying. Definitely wear a long sleeve shirt if you go. I went with some friends to see Eclipse and I loved it, best one in the series so far :-)
Walk about
It was a pretty nice day today in STT. Took a walk through Yacht Haven and Havensight, pretty nice view for a morning walk :-)

Drunk Cab
Only in De Islands. Sylvia was on her way to French Town to meet us, and she got hit by a drunk cab driver in front of the Pony Bar. He didn't want to call the cops so he gave Sylvia his registration and insurance, not copies but his actual registration and insurance. He is going to have his " guy" take care of it.
While we are working this out a cop in a nice shiny new SUV comes by. One of the West Indian bystanders stops him and tries to explain what's going on. He states that it is not his job, that they should call 911 and get a traffic cop. Then he drove off.

New iPhone 4 has arrived
I ordered it online last week Tuesday, it shipped Thursday and went to St. Croix for some reason. It was there Friday, but with it being a holiday weekend, I didn't actually didn't get it until yesterday.
So far I really like it. I'll let you know more after a few days.
Btw, my pic for my home screen is a shot of Sapphire beach sent to me by Ken :-)

Happy 4Th of July
We are hanging out at VillaOlga for a fourth party. It's a Frenchtown boaty kinda crowd. Everybody made a little of this and a little of that. The highlights include real southern fried chicken, a low country boil with shrimp, sausage, taters, corn on the cobb. Also homemade ice cream, mango, vanilla, and blueberry with fresh apple pie and peach cobbler.
It's tough down here. :-)

Gas soon come?
Well, we've had our portable generator for about a month now but still haven't got gas yet to run it. I've been driving around with three empty gas cans in my car for a week now hoping Jay world get the gas so we check out the generator before we actually need it. Hopefully soon :-)

Friday Beach Pic
TGIF and a four day weekend! Today is a VI holiday, Emancipation Day www.caribbeannetnews.com/news-2230--19-19--.html. And we get Monday for Independence Day, so it makes for a nice weekend. Jay is off Sunday and Monday so I'm sure we'll get out on the boat at some point. Friends of ours are having a pool party BBQ on Sunday with the traditional 4th of July fixins....fried chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, watermelon and home made ice cream! I don't think it's Jenny approved (as a friend of mine says) but I get to splurge once and awhile. :-) speaking of Jenny, I've lost 26 lbs so far and still going strong.
Hope everyone has a great holiday weekend!
Another great pic by Ken of Sapphire Beach.
