The good the bad and the details. We are moving to St Thomas in the US Virgin Islands. We will try to keep a rambling record for anyone that ever dreamed of giving it all up and moving to the Islands to learn from or just laugh at.

Secret Harbour
Secret Harbour really is secret. We had a tough time finding it but we finally did. It's a really pretty beach. We came here to check out the sail boats participating in the International Rolex Regatta. You can barely see the boats in this picture but it really is a beautiful sight.

Skin so Soft
I got a shipment of Skin so Soft the other day from Shaunda's mom. She sent some for both me and Shaunda. (thank you!) Between the shower gel, lotion and spray oil I was hoping it would slow down the feeding frenzie that the mosquitoes seem to be having at my expense. I sat outside yesterday in between the rain showers and got eaten up. So today I'm going to try a bug patch I got at St. John Spice and the skin so soft to see if that keeps them away. I also ordered two electric fly swatters online yesterday. I'll get those little bastards one way or another!
BTW - our Internet connection is still down so I'm posting from the iPhone again. Hopefully it gets resolved soon.

Island Internet
This is an iPhone post as the Innovative DSL has been out since yesterday afternoon. There should be four lights on this modem working. That is life on the rock.

St. John Soon Come
We're headed to St. John today for some beach time and forum gathering. Jay has to work a half day. So Shaunda and I are going over early to meet up with RickG, Christine and the girls at Maho Bay. Jay will catch up, or at least try to, when he gets off work. Stay tuned for more St. John updates......
Bowline
Jay had homework when he got home last night. He had to master the
bowline knot. I think he's got it!

We met RickG and his family from the Virgin Islands Online forum (http://www.virgin-islands-on-line.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=1) for dinner tonight at Wikked in Yaught Haven. They are headed to St. John for a week of fun in the sun. Left to right: Lizzy, Ana, Rick and Christine.

Blue
Isn't it neat how the Carib label matches the pool tile? Deb has
recovered from her shopping trama and I only had to work 1/2 day today
so it's a lazy pool day.

Shopping at Tutu
I decided to try a shopping trip to Tutu mall by myself. Up to this point I've either been with Jay or Jay has done it himself. So I dropped Jay off at work and headed out. I get to Tutu uneventful but find out its not open until 10am and its only 8am. So I venture into the Kmart that is next door. After an hour and a half of shopping and a very full buggy the power goes off. Every one is standing around in the dark wondering what to do. After a little while the staff come around with flash lights and ask everyone to come to the front of the store. Then they inform us that they are having problems with the generator so we need to leave our buggy where it is and vacate the store. Great!! By this time the mall is open so I decided to walk around and check it out, all the time hoping that Kmart would get power restored so that I could go back and get the stuff that I worked for an hour and a half gathering. But no luck. So now I have to go to the other Kmart which is smaller and hope that I can at least get part of the stuff that I need. Fun, fun!
PART II
So I decided to drive by Kmart one more time before taking off to find the other Kmart and they were back open. Yea. Maybe this will work out after all. Well I was hoping the find the buggy where they told us to leave them, but of course they had returned all the items so I had to start over. I decided to only get about half the stuff I had originally had, just the necessities so that I could get out of there and salvage part of the day. I get to the checkout and it is CRAZY! Long, slow moving lines. It took 30 minutes to check out then another 15 to get out of the parking lot and another 30 to drive home. It only took 10 minutes to get there at 8:00 in the morning, so taking 30 to get home tells you what the traffic was like. But, that also includes being behind a water truck all the way up the hill going so slow that my speedometer wasn't even registering a speed. Then it starts raining, so there goes sitting by the pool to relax. What a crazy day. Welcome to the islands!
PART III
Much better now. It only rained a few minutes and the sun came back out, which is typical. Had time to chill out on the deck and sit by the pool. Time to pick up Jay from work and have a nice dinner outside on the deck. Should be a nice evening. All's well, that ends well.

Another Day at the Office
Just thought I would post Jays office since I've posted mine several times. We're sitting at Hook Line & Sinker (which is right next to Jays job) having a cocktail after a hard day of work and thought I should share.

First Morning
Woke up this morning to a beautiful sunrise. The view is just awesome. There was a gentle breeze blowing. It was actually a little on the "chilly" side which I thought would be impossible. I wish I could say our first night in the house was just as great but I didn't sleep a wink. We were eaten alive by Mosquitoes! They kept buzzing our head and biting the crap out of us. I definitely see a mosquito net in our future. My face was bitten so bad my one eye is puffy and my forehead has huge knots on it!
Today I get to unpack the boxes and suitcases and find the right place to put everything. Our friends that have been on St. John leave today so they will be coming over to St. Thomas to hang out for the afternoon until time for their plane to leave. Then the new tenant that is moving in the apartment in our house arrives today so I'm going to meet her at the airport to show her how to get to the house.
Busy day. Jay has to work today so I'll be doing all this myself. I know you feel sorry for me :-) Well I better get busy.
